Over the years Sec. Bs came into the stud with the Fayre Oaks purchase in 1975 of Mynach Topaz, roan filly foal. Old Topaz was only recently put to sleep aged 28. In 1985 Loveden Victoria came as a filly foal from the LOVEDEN Stud and has proved to be a tremendous foundation mare. The current two Sec. B stallions are Woldbergs Ravel and T. Stratus. Ravel came to us from Edwin Flerackers in Belgium having been born at Woldbergs in Holland in 1990, bred from a gene background on Solway Master Bronze and Downland Mandarin. T. Stratus the bay is by Seaholm Damion out of T. Sapphire by Tetworth Mikado.
The birth of the Sec. Cs came 10 years later.
Gredington Jane had grown slightly over height and moved more like a cob than an A and though she had produced Sec. A foals by Monnow Jonas, it was decided to start Sec. Cs. In 1981 we used Richard Deptfords Sec. D stallion LLanarth Welsh Flyer (the first one, then 12 years old, who was by LLanarth Braint.
So the following year Templedruid Welshman was born a combination of A and D and grey. Little did we know then just what we had got. With an exquisite head and phenominal movement (which later we realised he had probably inherited from Braint), by the age of 3 he was winning in-hand SUPREMES at every show he went to. He continued In-Hand for 3 years and then we decided to put him under saddle.
He had 2 wonderful seasons winning the Olympia qualifier both years at Northleach and a Ridden Championship at both Eastern Welsh and at Ponies (UK). We were very lucky with our choice of rider, Stephanie Turner. They were a perfect combination.
Welshman died in 2009 leaving four entire sons in the stud.
